The Duplex

A House for Two Brothers

Project Area: 587 m²
Built Area: 428 m²
Location: Nof Hagalil (Nazareth Illit)
Architect: Ranad Deeb

The Duplex is a design response to the challenges of high-density urban environments, where land is limited and housing solutions are constrained. This project, designed for two brothers, explores how two independent units can coexist within the same structure while maintaining privacy, individuality, and a sense of unity.

The design challenges the idea that equal living conditions cannot be provided on scarce land. By prioritizing strategic spatial relationships, The Duplex ensures both homes receive equal access to natural light, open views, and privacy. The carefully crafted connection between the units fosters a harmonious living environment where both brothers enjoy spacious, light-filled homes.

The innovative typology of The Duplex introduces two interconnected yet independent homes, optimizing views, daylight, and open spaces for each unit. The design carefully arranges the levels and connections to preserve individuality, while the unique floor plan of each home enhances personal space.

A central feature of the design is the patio, which provides separation between the two houses, defining each unit's private space while maintaining visual and spatial connection. This thoughtful spatial arrangement ensures that both homes are bathed in natural light throughout the day, reinforcing the project's commitment to balance and individuality within a shared structure.
